Games Jam Projects
I have participated in 2 global games jams and in both instances I primarily filled the lead programmer role, this meant I was responsible for the creation of the core game mechanics and systems.
I was able to achieve the creation of these game mechanics in such a short amount of time by accurately managing my time and ensuring we did not over scope on our initial design plan. I also needed to communicate with the art team to ensure the assets created for the game were right for the mechanics. In Raftmun this meant making sure the collectable objects could easily be picked up and carried by the player, in Carmun however it was more complex. The core mechanic of Carmun revolved around the player interacting with the car and for this to happen smoothly I needed to work closely with the artist modelling the pieces of the car, we needed each piece of the car to be separate so I could set up simple animations for them in engine to react to the player. Raftmun is a resource gathering, raft building adventure in the face of certain death! Carmun is a journey about overcoming obstacles as you drive your car to a mysterious radio tower perched on a distant mountain. |
